Roswitha Reinhardt Pultrone Roswitha (Reinhardt) Pultrone, 82, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away on September 14, 2025, at the Cleveland Clinic, surrounded by her children, after complications from a stroke. She was born on June 15, 1943, in Klodnitz, Silesia, formerly Germany, to Herbert Reinhardt and Bertha Hedwig Schmidt. As a young girl, she endured the hardships of World War II and, together with her family, escaped to what would become West Germany in search of safety and freedom—a journey that shaped her lifelong resilience and strength. In the late 1960s, Roswitha came to the United States for what was meant to be a short visit but soon chose to make it her home. Years earlier, she had met Antonio Pultrone of Badolato, Italy, while living in Stockach, Germany. After he moved to Canada and she to the U.S., they reconnected and eventually settled in Lorain, where they built a life together until his passing in 1999. Roswitha cherished raising their three children—Patricia Pultrone, Christina Pultrone, and Mark Pultrone (Robyn). She filled their lives with adventure, especially during family visits to Germany, ushering them through museums to learn history and culture. Though her children didn’t always appreciate it at the time, those experiences became treasured memories, and she instilled in them a lifelong love of travel. Known for her sharp wit and absolute lack of filter, Roswitha was famous for saying the most outrageous things—and everyone knew it was simply her honesty and directness shining through. She also loved sharing pieces of her heritage, especially through her unforgettable German potato salad, a dish so good it was requested at every gathering. An animal lover at heart, Roswitha had a special fondness for cats. For many years, she fostered and volunteered in cat rescue alongside her daughter. Roswitha is survived by her children, Patricia Pultrone of Lorain, Ohio; Christina Pultrone of Springfield, Illinois; and Mark Pultrone (Robyn) of Amherst, Ohio; her sister, Karin Weihe of Germany; her brother, Harold Schmidt of Germany; her nieces and nephew in Germany; her special sister-in-law, Vincenzina Pultrone Andreacchio of Montreal, Canada, with whom she shared many heartfelt conversations mixing Italian and English; her beloved nieces in Canada from Antonio’s side of the family, whom she adored; and her cherished cats, BC, Juju, and Crouton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio; her mother and step father, Rudolf and Bertha Hedwig Schmidt; father, Herbert Reinhardt; her brother, Werner Reinhardt; and her cousin, Ursula Pennington. Anyone who met her has a “Rose” story to share. She was truly one of a kind.
