Karen Sue Elwell (nee Masley)

Amherst - Karen Sue Elwell (nee Masley), 68, passed away peacefully at home with loved ones by her side on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

She worked as a sales clerk for Schwebels Bakery at Milbrook for 30 years. She was a member of St. Peter Parish and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lorain. She enjoyed gardening, being a caregiver for her grandchildren, cooking, hosting, traveling, and making the smallest things beautiful like her home and her yard. She loved our God, our President and our country. She also loved shopping (especially for others), feeding squirrels, holidays, and most of all spending time with her beautiful family.

She is survived by her beloved husband, James Elwell Sr.; loving son, James (Kellen) Elwell Jr.; loving daughter, Erica (Greg) Stallings; cherished grandchildren; Hunter, Casey, and Hayden Elwell and LaVera, Grace, and Michael Stallings; brother, Robert Masley Jr.; Uncle Gene Mesenger, and many in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Sr. and Betty Masley.

The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH (440) 244-1961 on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home at 10:20 AM on Friday, March 27, 2026 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain, OH with Fr. Craig M. Hovanec, Pastor, officiating. Christian burial services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
