Joseph Ientile Obituary (1957 - 2025)

Joseph Ientile, affectionately known as Joe to his friends and family, passed away unexpectedly on April 24, 2025, at the age of 67, in Avon, OH. Born on September 28, 1957, in Lorain, OH, Joe was a lifelong resident of the area, where he carved out a life marked by hard work, dedication, warmth, and a passion for the simple pleasures in life. Joe was a graduate in the class of 1976, at Admiral King High School, after which he furthered his education by earning Degrees in Business and Accounting from Lorain County Community College. His academic achievements laid the foundation for a successful career in management, and as a pipe inspector with US Steel. On April 2, 1977, Joe married the love of his life, Susanna Ientile, in a ceremony surrounded by family and friends. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and a commitment to each other that would see them through nearly five decades of marriage. An avid hobbyist and sports enthusiast, Joe enjoyed playing softball in various recreation leagues. He loved fantasy sports and carnival skill games. He was known for his impressive collection of sports memorabilia, movies, and other mediums which he gathered with the same dedication and enthusiasm he brought to all his endeavors. Joe enjoyed cooking and was especially known for his famous spicy spaghetti and meatballs. He would often prepare several containers for his friends and relatives to take with them on special occasions. Joe's love for animals was another defining aspect of his character. He was never happier than when he was in the company of his beloved pets. He had a special knack for training animals, while also making them feel loved and cherished. He was admired for his sense of humor and quick wit. Joe appreciated a good joke, and would often seize the opportunity to get a smile, or laugh from those in his company. He enjoyed deep intellectual conversations and loved a good debate. Card games were a staple at family gatherings, and Joe's competitive spirit was always in good humor, as he enjoyed the camaraderie as much as the game itself. Las Vegas trips and horse races with his brothers were among his favorite pastimes, where he reveled in the excitement and the chance to spend quality time with his wife and siblings. Joe was a pillar of strength and support for his family in every time of need. He lived his life without concern of material possessions, but one who relished the opportunity to help those around him when in need. He loved to anonymously pay for strangers' meals at restaurants, and took great pleasure in donating to his favorite charities. His empathy for others has been an inspiration to the many lives he touched. Perhaps nothing brought Joe more joy than the time he spent with his grandchildren. His home was always open and inviting, making sure his pantry was always stocked with their favorite treats and snacks. He was a doting grandfather who loved being surrounded by his family; sharing stories and imparting life lessons. His grandchildren will remember him as a constant source of support and affection. He is survived by his children, Boyd (Heather), Adam (Amaily), Dustin (Amanda), (Jessica) Ientile, William Skinner, and Monica (Alan) Herbert; brothers, Anthony (Nancy) and Larry (Karen-deceased) Ientile, and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Susanna Ientile; parents, Joseph Carmen Ientile Sr. and Mona Lou (nee Neal) Klapkowski; and sister, Linda Hawn. The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM and 6:00 - 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 1, 2025 at the funeral home, Pastor Chuck Behrens, officiating. The burial will be held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Lorain, OH immediately following the funeral service.
