Janet Elaine Pogorzelski (nee Gove)
Lorain - Janet Elaine Pogorzelski (nee Gove), 75, passed away at home on Sunday, January 11th 2026, from ovarian cancer. Janet was a lifelong resident of Lorain and graduated from Lorain High School Class of 1969.
As a young adult Janet worked at several car dealerships including Bob Beck Chevrolet, Al Poklar Chevrolet, and a brief time with Ed Mullinax Ford. Most people knew her from her more than three decades working as the secretary at Footprint Tours, Inc. in downtown Lorain.
Janet volunteered for many projects aimed at revitalizing downtown Lorain. She often could be found selling tickets at the International Trees and Trains Display downtown during the holidays or working at fundraiser dinners in the train station at Black River Landing. Since her retirement in 2020, Janet had been volunteering as the secretary for the Lorain Senior Center.
Nothing in this world brought Janet a greater sense of joy and pride than her four grandchildren. She loved attending their school, scouting, and athletic events. She fully supported and encouraged each one of their interests.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Carolyn Gove (nee McClure), and her youngest brother, Terry Gove.
