Jan Plato

Lorain, Ohio

Jan Dean Plato, 53, passed away unexpectedly on June 28th, 2025 in Lorain, Ohio. He was born on August 23rd, 1971 in Lorain, Ohio and resided in Lorain County for most of his life. He held various types of construction jobs that allowed him to work outdoors in the fresh air as well as earning a masonry certificate.

Jan enjoyed reading, drawing, crossword puzzles, and music from "the good old days" with epic electric guitar solos and big hair. He took great pride in his hair, expertly maintaining a feathered mullet for many years until finally trading in the massive amounts of hairspray for clean fade. He was an avid Scrabble player and also engaged in passionate debates about various topics. Jan had a way of knowing when someone needed a laugh and would tell a joke to a complete stranger just to brighten their day. He was looking forward to peaceful days ahead, fishing on Lake Erie, with his son and granddaughters.

Jan was his mother's first true love, as is every first-born child. He never missed an opportunity for one of her home cooked meals, one of the many ways she shared her love.

He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Suzanne D. Plato; and an infant brother, Raymond C. Davis Jr.

Jan is survived by his son, Nicholas A. Plato; granddaughters, Natalie Plato and Maelynn Plato; and sisters, Jennifer (Geoffrey) Davis Silac and Jessica (Bradley) Davis Lapp.
