Carol Ramer

Lorain, Ohio

Carol Jean Ramer
Carol Jean Ramer (nee Domazet) of Brunswick, and longtime resident of Lorain, passed away on the 30th of July, 2024, at the age of 76. Born on September 2, 1947, in Lorain, Ohio, Carol was a graduate of Admiral King High School and went on to earn her associate degree from Lorain County Community College. She was a woman of many talents and an entrepreneur at heart, having been the proud owner of her own wallpaper business.
Carol's professional journey also included a significant tenure at the child support enforcement agency, where she dedicated herself to ensuring the well-being of children and families. Her commitment to her community was unmistakable.
Beyond her business and professional contributions, Carol was deeply invested in volunteer work. Starting as a candy striper, she later became a youth counselor, displaying a lifelong belief in the power of giving back. Her dedication shone brightly during her time with the Lorain County Courts as a mentor to children with behavioral needs. Carol's influence was profound and lasting, particularly with a young boy she mentored from the age of 8. Her guidance helped shape him into the man he is today, now a respected teacher in Washington State.
Her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Carol served as a Deacon Trustee at Northminster Church. She was a leader in her church community and her organizational skills and passion for service greatly contributed to the church's growth and outreach.
She was the chairman of the 1983 Mid America Orchid Show at Midway Mall. She had a passion for growing orchids and truly enjoyed her lily pond.
Carol's love for her community was paralleled only by her passion for the great outdoors. An avid fisherwoman, she chaired the Lorain County Annual Walleye Tournament, sharing her enthusiasm and expertise with fellow anglers. Her commitment to the sport and to the fellowship it fostered was evident to all who knew her.
A trailblazer for women's leadership within local organizations, Carol started the first Lions Club in the state of Ohio founded entirely by women. This groundbreaking achievement was a testament to her belief in the empowerment of women and her desire to see them take on significant roles within their communities.
Carol's legacy is one of service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to the causes she held dear. Her impact on the lives she touched and the community she served will be felt for many years to come. Carol Ramer lived a life full of purpose and kindness, and her memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Carol is survived by her sons, Daniel (Ann) Ramer and Robert Ramer III; grandchildren, Evan, Alexander, Lauren and Olivia; great-granddaughter, Anya; sister, Ruth Stransky of Reno, NV and ex husband, Robert Ramer Jr.
