Camillo Tocchi Obituary (1930 - 2025)

Camillo P. "Jack" Tocchi, a cherished member of the Lorain community and a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, in Avon, Ohio, at the age of 94. Born in Lorain, OH, on August 29, 1930, Jack grew up with a strong sense of community and a deep love for his country, which would guide him through a life of service and dedication. Jack's early years were marked by his education at Clearview High School, where he laid the foundation for a life of hard work and perseverance. After his schooling, he bravely served in the United States Army, where he upheld the values of loyalty and duty that would remain with him throughout his life. Upon returning to civilian life, Jack embarked on a career with the Ford Motor Company, where he excelled as a tool and die maker. His meticulous craftsmanship and dedication to his work were a testament to his character, and he was respected by all who had the pleasure of working alongside him. The year 1956 was a milestone for Jack, as he married the love of his life, Anne, on September 29. Their union was a loving partnership that flourished over the decades, characterized by mutual respect, unwavering support, and an abundance of shared laughter and joy. Jack was a man of faith and a long-standing member of St. Anthony of Padua, where he served both as a eucharistic minister and usher. His devotion to his church was evident in his commitment to his roles, and he was a source of inspiration and guidance for the congregation. In addition to his spiritual endeavors, Jack was a proud member of the Sheffield Lions Club, where he furthered the cause of community service. His dedication to helping others extended to his role as a chaplain with the Italian American Veterans, where he provided comfort and support to fellow veterans in their times of need. Jack's generous spirit led him to volunteer with the Mercy Cancer Center, where his compassionate presence and willingness to lend a helping hand made a profound difference in the lives of many facing challenging times. His selfless acts of kindness will be remembered by those he touched. In 2020, at the Life Savers Ball, Jack received the Living Angel Award for going above and beyond to support those touched by cancer. He is survived by his children, Lynne (Anthony) Giacobbe, Michael (Terry) Tocchi, Laura Kern, Lisa (Dave) Lang, Jacqui Wallpe, and David (Audra) Tocchi; sister, Norma J. Flores; 19 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his soul mate, Anne M. Tocchi; sisters, Beatrice Johns, Hortensia “Toots” McClelland and Lucy Laschen; and his parents, Jane and Carlo Tocchi. In honor of cancer survivors, Jack’s favorite color was purple. We encourage everyone to wear purple in his honor. Memorial donations may be made in Jack’s name to Mercy Health Cancer Center at 41201 Schadden Rd, Elyria, OH 44035. Jack's family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH, (440) 244-1961 on Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 2:00 - 6:00 PM. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Monday, February 24, 2025 at 10:20 AM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1305 E Erie Ave, Lorain, OH 44052, at 11:00 AM, Rev. Edward J. Smith, Pastor, officiating. Christian burial services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, OH immediately following the Mass with military honors by the United States Army.
